Being Given a Space Is Powerful: What Professional Validation Taught Me About Dogs

There is an assumption in our industry that professionals are confident. That once you have qualifications, experience, and a business, you automatically feel comfortable speaking, teaching, and being visible.

But that isn’t always true.

For those of us who are autistic, physically disabled, and shaped by past experiences where our voice was ignored, dismissed, or misunderstood, visibility is not easy. Speaking is not automatic. Confidence is not a given.

Very often, we learn to make ourselves smaller. Quieter. Less noticeable. We become experts at fitting into spaces that were never designed with us in mind.
